Hawke “Love Won Another” album released

My friend Gavin Hardkiss‘ third album (under the Hawke name), titled “Love Won Another”, has just been released on my Eighth Dimension Records label. It’s a fantastic mix of funk, feeling, electronics, and psychedlia that I’m totally enamored with. I’m pleased that I helped sequence the album and nurture its growth, and Gavin has admitted to me that the album’s creation was inspired in part by my “Invisible Airline” which is an awesome compliment. I think you’ll like it quite a bit.

Grumptronix collaborations released on Hallucination Limited

Q-BAM has done a few tasty remixes and tracks with the one known as
Grumptronix. Finally, two of their best efforts are to be released on 12″
vinyl thanks to our pals at Hallucination Limited. First up: an unreleased
version of the Grumptronix + Q-BAM “This Time” remix. You may have heard
this in DJ Three’s sets in the past couple of years. On the flip side you
will find an extended version of “Remix #1″ of Rabbit In The Moon’s “FloorI.D.A.”. You may recall a shortened version of this on theFuture Past Tense CD. The 12″ is in stores now and you can find more
information and audio samples here
.

Addendum: The Grumptronix + Q-BAM version of “This Time” (featuring vocals by Lisa Shaw) can be found on DJ Three’s absolutely fantastic mixed CD Hallucienda.

Q-BAM remix of DJ M3 “Tragic Queen” out now

The Q-Burns Abstract Message remix of “Tragic Queen” is an in-demand track that has been heard all over the globe for the past few months. Techy, acidy, weird and quirky as funk, a scrumptious slice of (almost) vocal house madness. We think the Qubes has outdone himself with this one. Played and charted by DJs such as Murray Richardson, Joshua, and Funky Transport. Grab a copy now on 12″ from your favorite independent record store. Released by our totally fab friends at Green Gorilla Lounge Records.

Q-Burns Abstract Message on NPR

Q-Burns was a guest on March 29th edition of NPR’s “Day To Day” discussing file sharing and it has affected the way music fans find, distribute and listen to music. Check out Xeni’s Boing Boing article for a link to the audio archive.

Q-Burns Abstract Message Downtempo Mixes

Orlando-based Black Market Funk is now hosting a couple of older downtempo mixes by Q-BAM. A familiar one from 2001 is on here that is filled with completely strange and trippy beathead psychedlia. In addition, we’ve dug way back into the archives to present a delicious Q-BAM backroom set from 1997. It’s there in 2 parts, each representing the side of the cassette it was originally on (remember mix tapes?). Just go to the site, select “Launch Player”, and scroll down a bit.

Tracklisting and album details

We are pleased to announce the release of a new CD by Q-Burns Abstract Message. Future Past Tense is a compilation of remixes over the last several years by Q-BAM. This disc features eclectic and funky re-workings of tracks by artists such as Fila Brazillia, Mazi + Collette, Beef Wellington, and Lovesky. We’ve also been able to include previously unreleased remixes of tracks by Rabbit In The Moon and Neon Heights, as well as a fabulous mix of Tetris’ “Two Hours” that has only been available in Russia. Q-Burns Abstract Message plans an extensive fall DJ tour of North America that we’ll be announcing soon.

Tetris “Two Hours” (Q-Burns Abstract Message remix)

Just released on Eighth Dimension Records is Q-BAM’s fabulous broken-beat-meets-funky-house remix of this track by our Moscow friends Tetris. Until now, this tune has only appeared on the Russian CD of Tetris’ debut album as well as the Q-Burns Abstract Message remix collection CD Future Past Tense. In addition to the remix, this 12″ also contains the amazing downtempo original and a previously unreleased “Remix Beats” version. Ask for it at your local dance music record supplier.

Q-BAM remixes Lawrence Welk

Q-Burns Abstract Message has certainly been asked to do quite a few ‘out there’ remixes…but when he was asked to retool a track by the famed champagne swing bubble-man we have to admit that we were a bit apprehensive. We shouldn’t have doubted. Q-Burns has remade the track “You Can Dance” (which originally sounded sort of like a game show theme) into a hypnotic and squelchy mid-tempo house groover. It’s fab. And it can be found on a whole CD of cool Lawrence Welk remixes called Upstairs at Larry’s. Some of the other remixers are Kaskade, Greenskeepers, Rithma, Smitty, and East Coast Boogiemen. Check it out!
