Thu March 25 – Orlando, FL : Starlight at Sky Sixty
I’ve had a nice history of Thursday weeklies in Orlando, including the beloved (at least by me) Holy Frijoles Thursday party at Knock Knock way back in the day. So, with that in mind, I’m totally pleased to announce a brand new Thursday party that I’m starting at downtown Orlando’s plush outdoor venue SkySixty. And we’ll be ready to go as soon as this very Thursday, February 25.
This weekly party will be called Starlight, inspired in part by the obvious fact that at SkySixty you’ll be dancing ‘under the stars.’ But it’s also inspired by the style of music I’ll be playing, and this wonderful song by NYC’s Escort bearing the same name gives you a healthy clue:
I’m going to be focusing on smooth vocal house tunes, with touches of disco and broken-beat in the mix for good measure. The flyer byline says “deep, sensual, vocal house music under the stars” which is exactly what we’re aiming for here. Basically, cool tunes that you can choose to dance along to or you can just chill with your friends and have a listen. Starlight will be a fun, casual night in a beautiful, comfortable setting.
SkySixty is also making this a Ladies’ Night which means that all drinks will be half off all night for (say in seductive voice) “the ladies.” Nice one, eh?
This happens this Thursday, February 25, and every Thursday at SkySixty, located at 60 N. Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando, above The Social. Click HERE for a map or directions. There is no cover and it’s 21 and up.
So, yeah … I’m quite excited about this and I hope you’ll make it out. If the night does well then eventually we’ll be bringing some very special surprise guests. Stay tuned, and we’ll see you on Thursdays!

The latest Invisible Airwaves radio show is now alive, featuring a couple hours of the latest and coolest in the deep house realm. There’s also a classic or two thrown in for kicks. If you’d like to tune in to have a listen then here are the times & places:
If you miss the show then the stations will be repeating it throughout the month. Play.FM will also have the show available on demand after its first airing. I’ll also be posting the mix to my Mixcloud page towards the end of the month.
The complete tracklist for this month’s mix can be found below the fold …
Ahh, !Club Queso! How I adore you. As February rolls around love is certainly in the air. Thus it’s time for our occasional romantic getaway to The Peacock Room. There we’ll find the annual Queso Valentine’s Ball, with lovers-not-fighters Q-Burns Abstract Message, Atnarko, Sleazy McQueen, and Matt Harris (T.A.R.D. … it’s his birthday!) playing Cupid-fresh house music tracks. I’m positive their antics will get us in the right mood. If you need a little more to tickle your fancy then know that Lola B is providing quite an amorous décor to The Peacock Room and Show Source Productions will make things sound extra scrumptious. Oh, ¡Club Queso!, how can you resist my charms?
Let’s plan a secret rendezvous. Meet me on Friday, February 5, at The Peacock Room, located near downtown Orlando by the corner of Mills and Virginia. You can see a map or get directions by clicking HERE. There’s a $5 cover, it’s 21 and up, and the first 50 people will get a token of my affection: a free cheesy mix CD.
I eagerly count the minutes until we meet again. Find me at The Peacock Room … I’ll be the one in the corner wearing a wrestling mask. XXOO
This is a remix out just now via Beatport, a little re-twisting of a gorgeous track by my good friend Brett Johnson. Maybe the ante gets up’ed when working with good friends as this turned out to be one of my personal favorite remixes I’ve ever done. I’m crazy about it.
The press release for this describes it best: “Imprisoned studio warlock Q-Burns Abstract Message was on hand to complement “Missing You” with a suspiciously spacious remix. Drawing inspiration from a pile of broken King Tubby records, Q-BAM’s version rattles within a moisture-soaked cell block, building into an analog epiphany further enhanced through a steaming, dusty spring reverb box. Totally slinky for the dancefloor, it aims to beguile the rarely hypnotized.”
As stated above this is out right now on Beatport and will be available everywhere else on March 2. It’s been released by the exquisite deep house label EIGHT-TRACKS. You should also check out Brett’s original on the release (as well as other remixes by Alland Byallo and Brett himself) … you can do so by clicking HERE.
