Gigs In Denver (with Lisa Shaw) And Salt Lake City

This weekend I’ll be risking TSA pat-downs as I travel to the middle of the country for a couple of wild and woolly DJ gigs hopefully near you. Here are the details:

November 4 – Denver, CO at Bar Standard
A special gig as it will be the first time in the Mile High City that I’m joined by one of my favorite collaborators, the lovely Ms. Lisa Shaw. She’ll be seducing the dancefloor with her voice as I further tempt with my beats. It’s a night thrown by the Full Flavor Music label, and other DJ’s joining in on hijinks are Greg Campbell (Full Flavor) and Khalib (Treehouse Collective). For more details click HERE.

November 5 – Salt Lake City, UT at W Lounge
Salt Lake City has become a regular haunt for my DJ exploits, a somewhat-yearly stop on my continuous stateside ‘tour.’ Nasty N8, who definitely knows how to throw a top party in SLC, will be hosting and helping with DJ duties, and the Big City House residents (Josh Max and Dan Dixon) will be supplying tunes as well. For more details be sure to click HERE.

Q-Burns Abstract Message In Europe

This week I’m heading off to Europe for a quartet of DJ dates across the continent. I’m quite excited for this … here’s the schedule:

Saturday, October 15Moscow, Russia at Propaganda
Tuesday, October 18Istanbul, Turkey at Kucuk Otto
Saturday, October 22Glasgow, Scotland at The Berkeley Suite

ROMANIA ISTANBUL
MOSCOW    GLASGOW

This Saturday: Marcelo Medeiros at Crooked Bayou

Last July I had the pleasure of embarking on a three week DJ tour of Chile and Brazil, playing almost ten DJ dates in the midst of plane rides, sightseeing, and friend-making. One of the cities I visited for the first time was Curitiba in southern Brazil. It’s quite an urban, developed metropolis full of cool architecture and yummy Italian restaurants. It’s also the home my buddy Marcelo Medeiros, who runs the Discotheque radio station and record label, and who served as my able tour guide the twenty four hours I spent in his city. I know Marcelo as I he broadcasts my monthly Invisible Airwaves show on his Discotheque Radio (which transmits worldwide via their web site … check it out – www.discothequeradio.com). It’s possible that you remember Marcelo from almost exactly a year ago when we presented our Springtime In Brazil party at Sky60. Marcelo guested and provided an expertly mixed set of deep house and vocal tracks, featuring many producers and tunes from the country of Brazil.

This week Marcelo Medeiros has returned to Orlando for a bit of fun, sun, and theme parkin’ and thus we’re happy once again to host him for another house music shindig. This time we’re taking over Crooked Bayou, on this upcoming Saturday night, for a dose of top quality house music, Brazilian and otherwise. I, Mr. Q-Burns Abstract Message, will be joining Marcelo for this evening of tunes as well Rob Slac of Chillin Music. There’s no cover, it’s 21 and up, and the music will start about 10:00 PM. You can count on great friends, atmosphere, and lovely tunes perfect for dancing or chilling out while enjoying your tater tots and/or stiff drink.

This all takes place this Saturday night, October 2, at Crooked Bayou located at 50 East Central Blvd., Orlando, FL 32801, (407) 839-5852. Click HERE for a map or directions. RSVP via our Facebook by clicking HERE. We’ll see you on Saturday night!

Some DJ mixes to check out:
Marcelo Medeiros Deep Of The Deep Organic Session – February 2009
Marcelo Medeiros Warm Up Set For Alex Kenji – March 2009

P.S. – Also, if you didn’t know already, I’ll be joining San Francisco/Montreal DJ Fred Everything and Atnarko at The Peacock Room the night before, Friday, September 1. It will be a great weekend for house music in Orlando!

This Friday: Fred Everything at ¡Club Queso!

The team at ¡Club Queso! has always promised to bring everything you could ever want in a top notch fun time house music night in Orlando. Now the “everything” bit can be taken literally: transporting down from San Francisco for the next event will be our esteemed DJ friend Fred Everything. In addition to his indisputable floor-quaking DJ skills, Mr. Everything is quite the renowned producer. His debut album, Under The Sun, recorded for Britain’s 20/20 Vision label is considered a classic by many. Fred’s recent move from Montreal to San Francisco cemented his relationship with Om Records who have released his latest album Lost Together, featuring contributions from Roy Davis Jr., Tortured Soul, Lisa Shaw, and N’dea Davenport from The Brand New Heavies. In addition to all this, Fred commandeers his own Lazy Days label which has released bits by the likes of Brett Johnson, Lovebirds, Joshua IZ, and our own Atnarko. No less than Buzzin Fly‘s Ben Watt has called Fred Everything “one of my favorite deep house producers.” We think he’ll soon be one of yours, too, as Everything’s Queso debut should inspire your dance floor conversion. A special night of extra special music is in the offing.

Sonic support comes in the form of ¡Club Queso! residents Q-Burns Abstract Message and Atnarko who will supply their special brand of deep, funky goodness prior to the main attraction. Lola B will be on hand lovingly adjusting the atmosphere and Show Source Productions will be bringing the booming bassbins.

This all happens on Friday, October 1 at The Peacock Room, located at 1321 North Mills Avenue, next to the corner of Mills and Virgina. Click HERE for a map or directions. Call (407) 228-0048 for information. $10 cover for this special event, $7 with Facebook RSVP. 21 and up, doors at 10 PM.

We’ll see you soon for Fred Everything at ¡Club Queso!

P.S. – and on Saturday, October 3, I’ll be DJ’ing at Crooked Bayou with my special friend Marcelo Medeiros of Discotheque Radio, visiting all the way from Curitiba, Brazil, and Rob Slac of Chillin Music. More info on this soon … it’s gonna be a great weekend for house music in Orlando!

We feel the heat of the arriving summer and answer with a bit of Love. Chuck Love, that is. Towing a menagerie of sweet tunes and musical instruments Mr. Love aims to entertain the Queso crowd with his funky song-smith and electric personality. Austin, TX This Friday: Conspiracy Disko

Yep, a few weeks ago I was to play Austin but some strange misaligning of the cosmos said it shan’t be so. Instead I found myself watching horses + dogs and admiring junk castles before treading home. But, wait, news flash: Austin beckons once again and, wouldn’t you know it, I’m due back as soon as this Friday for a completely unconnected gig, but still a ‘make up gig’ nonetheless if that’s how you want to play it. But this could be what the cosmos had in mind, as this DJ gig looks to be positively more action packed, more mayhem filled, more bunch-of-fun than the previous plan. I’m joining my friends Adam Warped (it’s his birthday, yo), Eddie Spettro, and a cast of others for the enticingly titled Conspiracy Disko party taking place at The Loft above Silhouette Sushiya (oh, hey … sushi!). I’ve got tricks up my sleeve, Austin knows how to tie one on, and it’s all coming together in a few days. Won’t you join?

That’s happening this Friday, May 14. Details below the fold, and click HERE to peep the Facebook event page for Conspiracy Disko. Wah la!
