Remix : Holiday Tracks

A couple of remixes for the season: "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town". Give a listen after the jump. Happy Holidays!

A couple years ago I was asked to do remixes for a duo of Christmas themed compilations. Both of the originals were decade-old songs and separated master tracks were not available. So, thanks to Ableton Live's warping function and a bit of magic in Logic Audio I was able to coax some competent remix action out of these crusty oldies.

First up is a remix of Bobby Helms' version of "Jingle Bell Rock". It sounds like someone spiked the eggnog, eh? This is part of a digital compiiation called Holiday Lounge which also features remixes by artists such as Beef Wellington, Kaskade, and John Beltran. You can purchase a download of this mix at many online shops including Amazon's new MP3 store and Audio Lunchbox. You can also get it as a ring tone at sites such as Mobicious.

Next up is the Q-Burns Abstract Message remix of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" by Johnny Mercer With The Pied Pipers. Inspired by how my good friend DJ BMF mixes in a DJ set, I've added hip hop beats that pop in and out of this cut. It's found on a CD compilation named Merry Mixmas which also features fab remixes by Thunderball, Ursula 1000, and many others. The CD can be found at Amazon or CD Universe and can be downloaded from iTunes. You can also get a ringtone of this remix from places like Thumbplay.

You can check out both of these remixes in this handy web player:

There's also an amusing fan-made video using the "Santa Claus" remix that can be found at this link.

Enjoy! See you in 2008 ....
