DJ Mix on Samurai FM

My San Francisco-based buddies at Hector Works and Blunted Funk have just launched a regular online radio show on Japan’s Samurai FM. Their show is called Sick Moves and for the first installment they’ve asked me to contribute an exclusive DJ mix. I had a lot of fun with this mix, keeping the BPM low and the beats chuggy, and dropping a few rare & crusty tracks from deep within my vinyl bin. Other DJs featured with their own fine mixes include Anthony Mansfield, Sneak-E Pete, and Ben Cook of Rong Music. Sick Moves is going to be a regular endeavor for Samauri FM and is just another reason to regularly check out Japan’s best Internet radio site.

Winter Music Conference 2008

Somehow it’s that time of year again when dance music freaks from all over converge in South Beach Miami for a wild and festive week of music called Winter Music Conference. It’s my thirteenth consecutive year going down for this and I’m hoping it will turn out to be a lucky 13. As usual I’ve got some cool gigs … three of them, in fact … and I’d love to see you at one or more if you’re joining the beat-loving throng under the sun. Information about my gigs after the jump.

Remix: Los Mono

My love affair with everything South American continues! I’ve just remixed a cool band from Chile called Los Mono. I was exposed to the band via the promotional efforts of Giant Step. They played matchmaker by forwarding my positive comments on the band to the label, Sonic360. I’m glad they did because the result is this tripped out, Latin-vocoder infused, dancefloor ready remix that I’m quite proud of. You can check it out after the fold.

Upcoming: Valentine’s Weekend In California

This weekend’s going to be especially hectic (and fun) for me. After Friday’s テつ。Club Queso! Valentine’s Ball I’ll be jumping into a jet plane and flying out to Los Angeles for what looks to be an excellent loft party thrown by the Always Love Life crew. Not one to rest, on Sunday I’ll be making the hop up to San Francisco where I’m honored to be playing the long-standing Stompy party at Cafテδゥ Cocomo. More information and flyers after the fold.

Q-BAM & Red Eye - Party As A Verb

I believe a lot of you heard this track in my DJ set at the Blue Collar Entertainment party at Winter Music Conference 2006. It’s my house-quaking collaboration with Dallas DJ & booty-poet Red Eye and it’s called “Party As A Verb”. Well, great news: it’s finally out! Yes, thanks to the unpredictability of the music biz these days it’s taken that long for this tune to be released to the public. You can listen “Party As A Verb” and its dub in full and find out where to get them after the jump-a-roo.

テつ。Club Queso! Valentine’s Ball

Yes, this Friday will be the next テつ。Club Queso! offering and, in keeping with the season, we’ve made it a Valentine’s Day Ball. We’re expecting your snazziest and cheesiest formal-wear to compliment your dancing shoes and, as always, wrestling masks are heavily encouraged. Atnarko and Sleazy McQueen will be joining me and Lola B will be making the place look like the gym at a high school prom. This all takes place this Friday, February 15 at The Peacock Room in Orlando, right by the corner of Mills and Virgina. $5 cover / 21 and up. We hope you can make it out!

Remix: The Mythical Beasts

My very recent remix of “Magical Creature” is a light-hearted, wobbly affair complete with added Fender Jazz Bass and Stratocaster (my babies!). Taking a cue from the title I’ve decided to make this a soundtrack to a Loch Ness Monster sighting … have a listen after the break and see if you can spot at which point the creature appears.
